Just
a Fool to Believe in Dreams

Grant
(from New Zealand) and Debie (from the USA) have lived for many years traveling
to different countries for work. After several years of moving and having
to leave friends behind, they decided to find land in the American Southwestern
(which is similar to the climates they have lived in) and build a ranch.
In the past, many of our friends and family members have thought us odd, but now they are convinced we are just plain crazy. As a reality check we have added a link for psychological counseling and spiritual guidance services.
After
several months of searching the internet and flying off to places like
Roswell (the alien theme was kinda cool), we found a plot of land outside
of El Paso, Tx. The land is beautiful and El Paso (being a border land
town) fits the type of cross-cultural lifestyle to which we have become
accustomed.
This
and the related web pages tell the story of what it takes to move to a
town where you know no one, buy a bit of desert, plan a ranch and make
a dream into a reality - all while trying to keep four adolescent cats
out of trouble. They are our only ranch animals. None of the four have
ever been outside before. Although they are interested in 'what's out there'
(curiosity killed the cat???), they are in for a real shock. (from left
to right: Trixi, Jack, Wobbles and Patches). Our Namibian cats are in MA
with Debie's mother waiting for their new home to be built.

The View from what will be the Silver Fern Ranch. This is one of the largest mountains (Cerro Alto Mountain) in Texas.
and a disused power pole. But all it and a good computer program.
In fact we found 2 arroyos (river beds that are dry in the winter). The little one is called 'Critelli Canyon', while the large one is named 'Spence Canyon' - something sounds uneven there??!
There
are a variety of yucca plants with slight variations in species as you
wander the rolling spread.
But
mostly there are cactus .....
And
more cactus ..... In the next web page, we will show you our development of a three-sided barn - in which we will live until our dream house is built.
